Silver Blades - Welcome

Quick Book

disabled skating
Here at Silver Blades Ice Rink Widnes we offer a variety of activities for those with mild learning disabilities or those with wheelchair use. The building facilitates for all and includes easy access around the main ice pad, viewing ramps for ice hockey games, a lift to the mezzanine area and a fully designed and recognised changing room equipped with a winch mechanism. Those with disabilities are invited to ice skate with their carers or with the attention of one of our qualified coaching team.

Here at the ice rink we strongly believe ice sports is for all and endeavour to provide opportunities for the local community to learn a new skill they might not have thought possible.

Ever watched ice hockey and wanted a try? Not only does the ice rink have access in all areas for wheelchair users, those who would like to participate in ice hockey can do so with our dedicated sledge hockey sessions, equipment is provided and the rules of sledge hockey are taught by experienced coaches with invaluable knowledge.

Lastly, the ice rink works closely with the local community and council, each year we provide a Disability Awareness Event and invite users already connected with Halton Borough Council disability in sports department to attend, but the event also provides a great networking community. Organisations are invited to attend and showcase their services to enable an easier and more understandable approach to living with a disability. Please follow the website for more information coming soon!

If you would like to attend one of our Learning difficulties learn to skate programmes please complete the Sportivate registration form here. Or alternatively for more information please contact our box office: 0151 420 7930
